The Pen Foundation

The Partners in Educational Excellence is a non-profit organization that provides funding and programs to enhance the educational opportunities of children living in Franklin County.  All members of the board are volunteers. The PEN Foundation is one of the requirements to be a Three Star Community.  Funding for educational programs come from United Way, Nissan North America, Decherd, and private donations.  We provide a yearly summer program housed at Decherd Elementary which is open to all elementary age children free of charge.   Some of the summer programs have included the Hands On Science Center, field trips to Arnold Air Force Base, Motorcycle and ATV Safety, How to make Healthy Snacks, Lets get Fit, Jump Rope Competition, Local Artist Presentations and Animal Native to Tennessee. The Role of Honey Bees In our Environment, and Music in Our World.  The PEN foundation also provides funding for tutors as the needs are  determined by the Franklin County School Board.   The PEN foundation is actively seeking new members for the board so that we have more resources to expand the programs we can offer. Our mission is to enhance the educational opportunities for all children living in Franklin County so that they can become productive, successful and contributing citizens.
