Estill Springs
Incorporated in 1948, Estill Springs is the second-largest town in Franklin County. Before 1840, the Estill family had acquired considerable property in the area that bears their name today. Frank Estill offered the railroad company a right-of-way for the construction of a railroad through his land. After the railroad was completed about 1850, there was much attraction to the area.

Cowan
Cowan is a small town located in the southwestern part of Franklin County. It is situated in the beautiful Cumberland Plateau region and is known for its scenic surroundings. Cowan is home to the Cowan Railroad Museum, which showcases the town's rich railroad history.

Sewanee
Sewanee is home to one of the nation’s top liberal arts colleges and a seminary of the Episcopal Church. Since its founding, the University of the South has graduated 27 Rhodes Scholars, 53 Watson Fellows, dozens of Fulbright Scholars, and 35 NCAA Postgraduate Scholars, while the institution’s School of Theology has added to its alumni ranks countless bishops, including three of the last five presiding bishops of the Episcopal Church.

Huntland
Huntland is a beautiful rural community in Middle Tennessee in the southwest part of Franklin County—12 miles southwest of Winchester, the county seat; 22 miles east of Fayetteville, the Lincoln County seat; 35 miles northeast of Huntsville, Alabama; and 100 miles south of Nashville, Tennessee’s state capitol. Huntland has a planning and zoning commission and is governed by five alderman who meet every third Tuesday of the month.

Decherd
Decherd was founded in 1853. Decherd owes its beginning to the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad which was completed in 1851 through what was to become the town of Decherd. The town is named for Peter S. Decherd, who along with his business partner Ezekiel D. Sanford in 1852, purchased the land and in 1853 developed it into a town complete with blocks and streets.
