ADULT BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
Franklin County has an Adult Education Program for adults who are interested in completing their elementary and secondary education. The program functions year round with both daytime and evening classes. It is an adult centered learning environment. The Adult Education Program provides English for speakers of other languages. Many of these students also prepare for U.S. Citizenship. Certified teachers teach all classes.
A computer laboratory, instructional videos, books, and software provide an atmosphere of learning, which is tailored to meet individual needs and learning styles.

FRANKLIN COUNTY VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
The Franklin County Board of Education/State Vocation Department, provides adult continuing, short term classes in various subjects.
The classes begin in September and continue to complete 50 to 75 hours. The classes are held two nights per week, for three hour sessions. A small fee is charged for supplies. The classes are non-credit courses, but business students receive certificates. The classes are held at Franklin County High School. The Franklin County Adult Activity Center is located on Hundred Oaks Street in Winchester. It is a private non-profit agency, founded in 1979, and is funded through local contributions, the Franklin County general fund, local municipalities, and the TN Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Activities include prevocational and employment training; life skills training; activities involving art, and fostering independence in the community.
