The University of the South, popularly known as Sewanee, is located on a 10,000-acre campus atop Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau between Chattanooga and Nashville.
Founded by leaders of the Episcopal Church in 1857, Sewanee continues to be owned by 28 Episcopal dioceses in 12 states and is committed to an academic curriculum which focuses on the liberal arts as the most enlightening and valuable form of undergraduate education. The University consists of a College of Arts and Sciences which offers 31 majors for approximately 1,300 undergraduate men and women and a School of Theology which includes about 80 graduate students pursuing master's and doctoral degrees.
The University has an impressive record of academic achievement - 22 Rhodes Scholars and 19 NCAA Post-graduate Scholarship recipients have graduated from Sewanee. More than 70 percent of the College's students pursue graduate studies. Approximately 89 percent of undergraduates who apply to medical school and a high percentage of students who apply to business and law schools are accepted. An Honor Code and the order of Gownsmen are cherished traditions among students and faculty. There are chapters of Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa at the University, among other honor service societies. The University of the South is a charter member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and a charter member of the Associated Colleges of the South.
THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE SPACE INSTITUTE
Also located in Franklin County is a graduate school for scientists and engineers. A part of UT, the Space Institute has evolved into an internationally recognized graduate study and research development center. The Institute's professional and technical personnel and its advanced research and development facilities, including an industrial research park adjacent to the campus, provides the technical resources and capabilities necessary to develop and support high technology industries.
One of 14 community colleges in Tennessee, Motlow College is located only seventeen miles from Winchester and offers quality, affordable educational programs. The associate degree program offers students an opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree designed for transfer to a four-year-college or university. For the student who plans to enter the work force upon earning the Associate or Applied Science degree is available. Motlow has earned reaffirmation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
TENNESSEE TECHNOLOGY CENTER AT SHELBYVILLE
Located on Highway 41-A only twenty-five miles from Winchester, post secondary training is offered in automotive body repair, automotive technology, drafting, industrial electrical and electronics, industrial maintenance, machine shop, practical nursing, refrigeration, secretarial science and welding.
Located in Sewanee, St. Andrew's-Sewanee is one of the top ten boarding college preparatory schools in the United States. Approximately 99 percent of the students who attend St. Andrew's-Sewanee also attend college after graduation. St. Andrew's-Sewanee offers a wide range of weekend and summer activities, including summer school. The school can provide daily transportation service for students who do not wish to board at the school.

SCHOOL OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD
School of the Good Shepherd (SGS) is a parochial school operated by Good Shepherd Catholic Church. SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) accredited, the school complies with the guidelines established by the Diocese of Nashville
Catholic School's office and the Tennessee Department of Education. SGS was established in 1902 as St. Francis de Sales Academy and was known as Winchester Academy until 1965. In 1966 SGS moved into its current location in Decherd, offering educational programs in Pre-K (3) to 8th grade. Enrollment is open to all students and all faiths. Small class sizes allow teachers to tailor instruction to meet individual needs. All students in K to 8th grade attend Religion class and attend Mass weekly.

ELK VALLEY BAPTIST ACADEMY
Elk Valley Baptist Academy (grades K-3 through 12 th ) was established in 1996 as a ministry of Faith Baptist Church. The school combines academic excellence with Biblical values in a caring environment. Both intensive phonics and traditional mathematics are taught using the A Beka curriculum.
Classes are small enough to challenge students and yet allow personal instruction. The student/teacher ratio is 8:1 with an average class size of 10.
The school's extracurricular program includes intramural sports and field trips. An all-day pre-school program is also available.
Elk Valley Baptist Academy is a member of the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools and the American Association of Christian Schools. The pre-school, elementary, and secondary programs are certified by the Tennessee Department of Education.
